Twiddling My Thumbs: Trying To Keep Sane

ONE: TO TABLET OR NOT TO TABLET

Here it is.  I'm falling back to the old habit of trying to figure out where to put my money.  When I say trying to figure out where to put my money, I mean, trying to figure out ways to spend my money.

My updated Expenses Checkpoint is proving to be a little difficult to come by.

See, the struggle I'm undergoing in the fact that I need/want/need/slightly want/but incredibly NEED a tablet.  I'm overcome with all the reasons I should get it and all the reasons I shouldn't.  After days of mulling it over, and transition from wanting to buy an iPhone to falling in love with Sony Xperia to just finally deciding on getting a tablet, I've come up with the basic Pros and Cons of why I'm going to buy a tablet:
PRO OF GETTING A TABLET

  • It has the sames functions that any phone has, calling, browsing and texting capabilities
  • Cheaper
  • Easy to carry around if I get a small tablet
  • If it gets stolen, it's not as painful as if I had a smart phone instead
  • Battery life won't drain easily (really??)
  • I can buy one now, and still use my phone because of the full qwerty keyboard feature my phone has
  • I can bring it with me to watch movies
CONS OF GETTING A TABLET

  • I can't carry around as much as I'd like. It would have to stay home for the most part
  • If I want a really good tablet, I'm considering getting something that requires me to add a little more money so I can buy a smartphone
  • Not really good for camera features.
  • Not really a tablet con, but I won't need a tablet if I buy a smartphone.
    • At least I think I don't need a tablet.  But having something to watch movies with or read books with is always a plus.
Can you think of any more reasons why choosing a tablet over a phone would be a Con?  I can't.  Getting a tablet or a phone is both investment purposes:  I'm going to use either for studying, mostly research, and looking up investment opportunities or learning about investment opportunities.  I'm trying to figure out if it's going to be much more difficult if I just get a cheap tablet, or a smartphone.  If I get a smartphone, I know that as far as battery life is concerned, I can rely on the battery life of a smartphone.  But how about a tablet? Is a tablet's battery life as it promises? I can't keep using my tablet and then have to worry about charging it every few hours.  It would be like my laptop, I'd have to keep it plugged into the wall just to make sure I'm getting enough battery life.  But I guess it would be good especially since it doesn't take up too much electricity like a computer would.  Besides, I don't want to mix everything up and worry about texting while playing games or reading books.

YES! A tablet it is! And I think I want to get one as soon as possible.  Perhaps after I pay off all my expenses. :)

Now, tell me if I'm getting ahead of myself.  Man, I need someone to review this post and tell me if I'm getting ahead of myself.

TWO: I QUIT SMOKING!

I did tell myself that when I turned 30, it would be a good idea to quit smoking.  Well, on my birthday, I felt that I didn't want to keep smoking anymore.  Actually, I had a half a pack of cigarettes left in my bag, and I thought I'd finish it and start my journey to my new life by quitting right then and there.

I guess I psyched myself enough because on my birthday while I was finishing off my cigarettes, I wasn't really in the mood to smoke.  And the day after, I didn't feel like smoking either.  I just want to quit, and be 30 years old, and be mature enough to stop smoking.

Well, I'm hoping I don't fall into the trap again.  I know it's going to be hard to be around people that are smoking, and that's one good thing about having a phone as a smartphone.  I can doodle on my phone without having to worry about what other people would think.  They won't think I'm being a snob if I just do things on my phone.  I can't just pull out my tablet when I'm in a public place and start using it.  What does that have to do with anything?

Okay, since someone is being aloof today, it's making me feel like I want to get up and buy a tablet.  But I know that's not the answer to anything.  Just because I'm very antsy right now doesn't mean I have to get up and buy anything.  Ugh.

Well this for now, more for later.
