Still Twiddling My Thumbs

Okay, now that I've decided that I do indeed want to get a tablet, the next thing I'm thinking of right now is why I can't buy this tablet NOW.  Why do I have to wait until the 22nd?  I know I'm going to buy it, why should i wait until the 22nd? And at this point, my expenses checkpoint isn't working at all.

That's why it's helpful to have a look at other people's blogs, and read about being frugal.

BUYING THE TABLET NOW:
  • I get to have the tablet now
  • I can start watching movies
  • I can start reading books
  • I can browse on the Internet on it while Alex uses the computer.
  • Impulse buying

BUYING THE TABLET LATER, SAY IN JANUARY OR DECEMBER 22:
  • Is just a week later than intended
  • I'll still be doing what I'm doing now
    • Which kind of bothers me in a way.  Why am I even being bothered with the way things are now?? I didn't need a tablet a few months back.  I didn't need a tablet to do anything.
But now I'm looking into reading stuff, and I guess yes, a computer is just too darn big, and consumes too much electricity.

And another thing I'm considering is the price.  I need to spend an additional PHP 3,000 for a tablet that functions better than most.  But if I think about it, what's wrong with a tablet that has 512 MG of RAM or just 4GB of ROM?  I didn't even stop to consider the camera features of the tablet because no way am I going to use the camera for anything, unless maybe we go out to take pictures and stuff, then a 5MP camera would be of good use.

But if I'm going to just use the tablet for reading books, blogs and browsing, why do I need to have a tablet with higher specs?

Well, I used to own the Samsung Galaxy Y Pro, and one of the challenges was when Tyrese was still a toddler, I would download games into my phone for her to keep her entertained.  It was pretty hard looking for games online because most of the time, I wouldn't be able to run games, or download anymore games because there wasn't enough space.  And so I had to make do by deleting some of the other games that I've already downloaded.

SAVE THE MONEY
  • Used only for reading and web browsing
  • Some games, but not a lot, primarily the following:
    • Angry Birds
    • Candy Crush
    • Monopoly
    • Diner Dash
    • Skype
    • Instagram
    • Chrome
  • Tablet still has call and text functionality
SPEND THE MONEY
  • It's supposed to be an investment.
  • Long term usage, not another tablet in the next 6 months.  I should make this tablet last.
  • Better camera, faster, and can support additional apps
  • Better display, too, IPS Capacitive, one like you can find on an iPad, for less the money.
  • I use it more, certainly more than I would use my computer, and thereby, I would also save electricity.
Not really strong points in Spending the Money because Saving the Money points may also include the tablet to be an investment and it's for long term usage.  I guess the only solid thing on spending the money is the fact that it's faster, and can support additional apps.  And when you think about it, if this tablet lags by the time I've had it for six months, imagine how much a cheaper tablet would perform in a few months.

My Spend the Money points are geared not towards saving. Maybe I should read more blogs.  And another thing that's ticking me off is the fact that my computer keeps shutting down at regular intervals, and it's just really pissing me off! I want to be able to work, but this is really frustrating!

So that's what's making me want to go out and buy a tablet later today! But no, I should wait.  But why? It's the same. Why should I wait?  What am I going to sacrifice if I buy the tablet tomorrow?  Nothing really.

I'm going to sleep on it.  And when I still feel like I need to buy it, I'm going to buy the tablet in the middle of the week.
