School Hunting: The Schools

Tyrese and I just got back from two schools today. I have to admit, if I was confused then, I'm baffled now. This article will be updated with every school that we are able to visit. Hopefully I am able to find the school for my daughter. For quite a while now I have gone through decision-making with my gut feel. Should I apply for a higher position? Should I break up with y husband? Should I buy a tablet? Now, choosing schools is crucial because I have to consider several things, (one of which I just actually considered now) such as: 1. Will they be able to prepare my daughter for big school in a year?  2. Will it be better to send my daughter to a school that already has grade school and high school? 3. Will my daughter learn what she's supposed to learn from nursery and kinder in a year?  I just realized that I think I might be considering sending my daughter to a competitive school, and she might not be able to cope. But I aso have high hopes for my daughter and I...

School Hunting for Tyrese

Admittedly, looking for a school for my 5-year old daughter is not much of a challenge in terms of whether they are willing to teach her, but in fact which school would provide good foundation for her.  See, here's the story with my daughter: Because of financial struggles we were unable to enroll her in school least year after she turned four.  Most kids have already undergone a year of schooling by the time they turn 4.  Tyrese didn't even know his to spell her name.  I guess most would say any old school would do even day care. But both Jon and I were too irresponsible to take care of matters.  I tried to sort of make up for it by slowly introducing the alphabet to my daughter which did help some. So now that I've finally gotten a hold of my finances I have been able to focus most of my efforts in looking for a good school for Tyrese. By good I mean: 1. Affordable 2. Can teach her what she needs to know in a school year She has to be in a big school by n...

Skipping and Hopping: My Road to Financial Freedom

Image
Ric is right. I've come a long way from loaning money. I had a loan but only because my daughter got sick.  I have to make sure I don't have any additional expenses other than what's in my budget.  But to tell you the truth, I haven't even properly learned budgeting.  I mean, I mean would budget my money in the sense that I anticipate general expenses.  But not actual expenses like when my daughter asks for something. And so I have updated my Expenses Stoplight to kind of squeeze sudden expenses like that.  I already have budget for sudden expenses.  So if I need to spend, I just have to make sure it doesn't go over my Expenses Stoplight. So as long as if I answer 'No' to the first two questions, but I answer yes to the third, then I will have to put those sudden expenses on hold.  This stoplight by the way is only good for impulsive buying and a checkpoint for needs hovering between need and want, but leaning a little more to need. So d...

The 2014 Challenge

I have to admit, my posts have not really been beneficial to anything.  I haven't posted anything substantial to my road to financial freedom.   But now i think this is going to be a more substantial post.  So I was browsing the web earlier and I happened to stumble upon this post about the 52 week challenge of 2014.  Its a post where it you start saving money every week by starting with a dollar.   Then every week,  the amount you put in will increase in increments of one.   So for the first week, you're putting in a dollar.   The week,  you're putting in $2.00. The third week, you're putting in $3.00 and so on and so forth.  But since we're here in the Philippines, someone else has modified it to fit our mindsets. :-)  The Kuripot Pinay  talks about the 52 Week Challenge with different variants as far as how much you should be putting in.  I actually. Modified mine so that I will be putting money...
